When you’re watching a video, you may be curious about the story behind the scenes, who created the video, where it came from, whether it’s been edited, etc. By running a reverse video search, you may be able to have these questions answered.

Different from traditional searches that require typing text-based keywords, a reverse video search allows you to look up a video clip or a screenshot of the video to trace its source and online presence, or to find more similar videos. It works by analyzing the visual and sometimes audio content of the video to search for corresponding information across the Internet.

A reverse video search can be helpful in a variety of situations:

  • Finding the full version of video clips or animated GIFs
  • Identifying the original source or owner of a video or meme/GIF
  • Recognizing the objects or people in a video
  • Discovering related content or information
  • Verifying the authenticity of videos and check if they’re edited or altered
  • Tracking copyrighted uses of your videos
  • Monitoring how your videos are shared on social media or different platforms

Videos are more difficult to analyze and search than static text or pictures. And there are NO dedicated tools for searching a video. In most cases, you’re only able to search by the screenshots of the videos, and the results may not be 100% accurate.

Option1 – Google Images

Google, the world’s largest search engine, indexes a massive amount of online data. Although it doesn’t provide a reverse video search feature, you can take advantage of Google Images to search for a screenshot of the video or type a keyword or simple description to find related videos.

1) Take several screenshots of the video.

2) Go to Google Images. Click the camera icon.

3) You can drag an image to the box, click Upload an image, or paste the image URL. Choose a screenshot and click Search.

4) You can crop the image to select the most identifiable things.

Google will recognize where the images appear and display other similar images. Simply browse the results to gather any essential information. You may need to try several times with different frames of the video to achieve desired results.

Option 2 – Shutterstock

Shutterstock is a reputable provider of stock images, photos, vectors, videos, and music. To help users find the perfect image, video, and music track, it supports various search options powered by unique AI technology to search intelligently from its extensive collection of original music tracks and images.

Here’s how to find related videos using a picture.

1) Go to Shutterstock.

2) Select Video from the drop-down menu and click Search by image.

3) Drag a captured video screenshot to the box or upload the image file.

Shutterstock will present all the similar videos based on the images you provided.

Conclusion

Technically, there are no real-working reverse video search websites online. You cannot trace a video’s source by simply uploading a clip or the video file itself, but instead, you’ll have to search by the video screenshot. If the tools above don’t give you any results, consider posting the video URL on screenshots on public networks like Reddit or Quora to seek assistance from other users.

Odometer Check

Enter VIN to check a vehicle’s mileage

Every year, about 452,000 used cars with false odometer readings are sold1. By editing a fake lower odometer reading, fraudulent individuals or dealerships try to trick prospective buyers into paying more than what a car is truly worth. So if you’re planning to buy a used car, it’s necessary to check its real mileage and see if the odometer has been rolled back fraudulently. This guide will show you how to spot odometer fraud and protect yourself.

What is odometer rollback?

The odometer shows the distance a vehicle has traveled and its number is an important factor that determines a car’s value. The higher the odometer readings, the lower the vehicle’s value. Odometer rollback, or mileage rollback, means tampering a vehicle with an odometer reading that’s less than it actually does, and therefore the individual sellers or dealerships can sell it for a higher price.

So how is an odometer rollback completed? There are two types of odometers, digital and mechanical (analog). Rolling back a traditional mechanical odometer can be easily done by turning back the digit gears. The process for the digital ones, however, may involve altering the circuit board or requiring specific rollback equipment.

Method 1 – Get a vehicle history report

A vehicle history report can reveal a car’s mileage, ownership, titles, past accidents, value, and a variety of details, and give you a better insight into a vehicle’s functionality and durability. You can get it by looking up the car’s VIN with a dedicated tool. VIN is a unique 17-digit code usually located on the front of the driver’s side dashboard.

If you don’t have the VIN, a license plate lookup also works.

License Plate Lookup

Research a Vehicle by License Plate

Option 1 – BeenVerified

BeenVerified is a reputable all-in-one information search website with an aim to help people discover, understand and use public data in their everyday lives. Powered by extensive vehicle data from government agencies, insurance and leading automotive industry partners, it enables you to track major events in the vehicle’s lifespan and alerts you to undisclosed issues.

1) Go to the BeenVerified VIN search page. Enter the car’s VIN and click Search.

2) Wait a couple of minutes as the website scans the matched vehicle. Once done, it will show you the last reported mileage together with a plethora of information such as the vehicle specifications, salvage records, maintenance history, market value, and so on.

You may also see how the car’s odometer readings increase at different periods from the Potential Sales listings section. If the data mismatches with what you see on the dash, the odometer may have been altered.

Apart from vehicle search, BeenVerified can assist you in verifying the sellers or buyers you’re dealing with. You can search by a person’s name, phone number, or email to pull their background information and discover their identities.

Option 2 – Bumper

With access to millions of up-to-date vehicle records, Bumper is a trustworthy vehicle history report provider approved by NMVTIS (National Motor Title Information System). For anyone looking to buy or sell a vehicle, Bumper delivers essential vehicle information including accidents, recalls, market value, and ownership history, empowering you to make an informed decision.

1) Visit the Bumper homepage. Enter a VIN number and click Search.

2) Open the report when it’s generated, which is user-friendly and easy to read, and consists of 15 categories. You may find:

Accident history – The data and details of vehicle accidents that required law enforcement or insurance intervention.
Sales listings – The price the car is listed for sales and the reported mileage.
Theft records – The date of theft and recovery, if a car was reported stolen.
Salvage listings – The car’s title history.
Market value – Estimated market price for your vehicle based on the past sales of similar vehicles.
AND MORE

Method 2 – Pay attention to physical signs of tampering

While a VIN report is a more reliable measure of vehicle mileage, it’s not hard to spot the signs of a fake odometer. Even though an odometer is messed with, other parts of the car can still help you determine its real condition visibly.

First of all, if it’s an analog odometer, you could take a quick look at the numbers to check if they are readable and aligned properly. If they’re difficult to read, crooked, or have uneven spacing, the odometer may be manipulated. Also, rolling back a mechanical odometer requires disassembly of the dashboard, which may leave some traces such as scratches or fingerprints on the display, loose screws, etc.

Besides, a heavily worn-out interior or excessive wear on the brake pedal, steering wheel, and floor mats could also suggest a car with a high mileage. If a car travels less than 20,000 miles, it’s likely to have the original set of tires.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, an average of American drivers logged around 13,476 miles a year2. Although the number may vary depending on the driver’s gender, age, location, and uses, it can give you an approximation of a vehicle’s mileage for its age.

If you want to be absolutely sure about a vehicle’s condition, take it to a professional technician for a thorough inspection. They’re adept at spotting tampered internal components and have proper tools to identify a car’s real mileage.

So that’s three simple ways to tell if a vehicle’s odometer has been rolled back. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment below.

Reverse Email Lookup

Trace the email sender’s name and address history

Finding the IP address of an email could help people spot email scams and understand how to deal with a mysterious email. If you want to trace an email to its source but don’t know how, here are three real working methods. By using an advanced email lookup tool, you can even locate exactly who’s the email sender.

1. Analyze the email header

An email header shows how the message travels to your inbox. It contains valuable information about the sender and recipient, the servers, ISPs, and the service the message passed through, as well as other critical details related to the email deliverability. By reading an email header, you can retrieve its IP address.

For privacy protection, most email services like Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo process emails with their servers and don’t expose the senders’ IP addresses. That said, the IP address in the email header may belong to the source mail server but not the sender’s actual IP address.

Step 1: Get IP address from the email header

On Gmail

1) Open the email in Gmail.

2) Click the three dots at the top right and click Show Original.

3) Scroll to the details and locate the second Received line. It will display the IP of the server that sent the email; just copy it.

On Microsoft Outlook

1) Open the email in Outlook.

2) Click the three dots at the top right of the message and click View > View message source.

3) Copy the IP address.

On Yahoo Mail

1) Open the email in Yahoo.

2) From the top pane, click the three dots and click View raw message.

3) Copy the IP address.

If you can’t retrieve the sender’s actual IP address from the header, you could, instead, send them a unique link to log their IP address.

Simply search for a free IP logger online and choose a reliable website. Create a tracking link by entering a URL, which could be anything you think the sender will be interested in clicking.

Send the generated link to the email address. Once its owner clicks the link, you’re able to see the user’s IP address and device details on the IP logger website.

Step 2: Look up the IP address

To learn more about the IP address, you’ll need to look it up online and check its general location (country, city, and zip code), ISP (Internet Service Provider), hostname, etc.

1) Go to WhatIsMyIPAddress.

2) On the search bar at the top, paste the IP address you copied from the email header and click Search.

3) You’ll see relevant information about the IP address and it will also tell you if the IP address is likely from a mail server.

An email IP address doesn’t give away much helpful information. It won’t reveal an email’s source nor does it determine its legitimacy. If you wonder who’s the person sending the email, you can perform a reverse email lookup to get the answer.

Don’t trust tools that claim to trace the real-time location of an email. Such tools typically don’t exist for privacy or security reasons.

2. Run a reverse email lookup

Here are two trustworthy and easy-to-use reverse email lookup tools. Just input an email, and they’ll search for relevant information for you.

Option 1 – BeenVerified

Founded in 2007, BeenVerified is a versatile online people search engine. Sifting through millions of public records from reliable sources, it can help you trace an email sender effectively and unlock a wealth of useful information about their background and identity.

1) Visit the BeenVerified email search page.

2) Enter the email in question and click Search.

3) Wait a few seconds as it scans the email data. Once done, you’ll get a detailed report that contains the email owner’s name, photos, phone numbers, emails, address history, associated social media profiles, and so on.

Option 2 – Spokeo

Spokeo is also a popular people search engine specializing in email lookups. By typing in a valid email, you can instantly look up who is the sender behind. Although this service doesn’t track IP addresses, it can show you the sender’s addresses, personal details, and even digital footprints.

1) Go to the Spokeo homepage.

2) Enter an unknown email address and click Search.

3) Open the report when it’s generated. You may see who owns the email address and linked social profiles. Then search again by the owner’s name, and you can get a comprehensive background report that discloses the person’s address.

3. Trace the email on social media

You can search for an unknown email in Google to see if there is any relevant information across the Internet. However, a common search engine may not access social media or private networks. If the returned results don’t help, you can go further by searching the email directly on social media

Search email on Facebook
You won’t be able to find an email’s IP address in this way but may find the social media of the email sender as well as their photos, whereabouts, and more details.

Get started on popular platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. If you find a potential profile of the email owner, you could look for more clues about their location or address by checking their contact information section or browning their published posts

So that’s it – how to find an IP address through an email. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment below.

FAQ:

Is it legit to take surveys for money?

Online paid surveys are legitimate businesses. Companies and organizations look for honest feedback and thoughts from consumers about their brands, services, and products, so they partner with market research companies as mentioned above to tap into their audience. Simply put, companies pay for helpful insights, and you, as consumers, earn money by voicing your opinions. And survey websites (known as get-paid-to websites) connect both of you.

Typically it’s free to take surveys for money. So if a website is asking you to pay upfront costs in order to earn money, it’s very likely a scam. To protect your personal information online, avoid websites if they:

  • Pay too much. Things that sound too good to be true are often fake.
  • The website isn’t secure. A secure and reliable website should at least have a padlock icon next to the URL, which means it’s safe with a digital certificate and the information you send will be kept securely.
  • Ask for sensitive personal information. Never give away your social security number, bank account, driver’s license, or anything you think is important.
  • Requires a large number of points to pay out. Most survey websites offer points valued at 1 cent and let you cash out at $5 – $15. Don’t waste time on websites that have high disqualification rates or strict payout terms.

Are paid surveys available for everyone?

Short answer: No. Most survey websites require people at least 14 years old to join, and some are open to certain countries or regions.

But compared to other side gigs, paid surveys are suitable for the vast majority of individuals, stay-at-home parents, busy college students, or anyone in between. There are no startup fees or skill or career requirements. All you need is a device, e.g. tablet, computer, or smartphone with an Internet connection to access the survey websites

How much can you earn by taking surveys?

Doing surveys online won’t make you rich overnight, but it can provide a great boost to your financial life, such as helping you cut down on the bills or earning a free cup of coffee. It’s perfect for people who don’t mind filling out some surveys in their spare time to earn extra cash. The surveys have different payouts, depending on their types or estimated time to finish.

How to get paid?

Most legitimate websites offer various redemption options. Once you’ve accumulated enough points by taking surveys, you can redeem them for cash, usually via PayPal or Visa credits, e-gift cards to popular retailers, or charitable donations

The payout process usually will take a few business days, usually 1 – 7 days. Here is how long the payment of the survey websites above will process:

Branded Surveys: 1 – 2 business days
Survey Junkie: Instantly
Toluna: It varies. Points for some surveys may be credited within a few days or a maximum of six weeks.
Swagbucks: 1 – 10 days
Ipsos iSay: Virtual rewards are delivered instantly; PayPal cash takes up to 3 – 4 days to be received.
LifePoints: Up to 10 days
InboxDollars: About 3 business days
MyPoints: Up to 30 business days
Opinion Outpost: Up to 6 weeks

Get Name, Address & More!

Powered by Intelius, ZabaSearch’s sponsor

Powered by Intelius, ZabaSearch is a leading people search website that allows you to find an individual online by name or phone number. If a name or phone number search doesn’t meet your needs, you could go further by searching with an email or username using a ZabaSearch alternative.

How does ZabaSearch work?

Technically, ZabaSearch itself is not a data broker or a real service provider. In fact, it works as a referral to Intelius, a well-known public records search website that crawls public records sources, aggregates and presents information that you may be looking for.

While ZabaSearch is a free search site for people to search and public information, it’s not 100% free. In order to see detailed reports, you’ll need to purchase a membership plan. And reliable people search services are the same. Searching is completely free, but payment is required when you want to unlock the full results.

Getting started with ZabaSearch

When searching for a name on ZabaSearch, it reveals basic information matching the person you searched, such as the person’s possible age and last known address to help you identify the correct results. However, unlocking the full profile requires payment and it will direct you to Intelius where the report is generated.

If you search by phone number, it may disclose the possible number owner and his/her address. Likewise, the available background details that include the person’s additional public records and other contact information are provided by Intelius.

The above image is from a sample Intelius report. Actual Intelius reports may contain more or less information.

For the best user experience, you could search on Intelius directly and promotional offers may occasionally pop up on the website.

1) Go to the Intelius search page.

2) Choose the search type: name, phone, or address, then fill in the information and click Search.

3) Wait a couple of minutes as Intelius searches its public records sources. It will compile the relevant records into an easy-to-read report. After purchasing a membership plan, you can unlock it and view the details.

Look up contact info, photos & more!

411 is a directory assistance phone number that you can dial to request someone’s contact information or check a mysterious caller. But with the development of the Internet, most of these services hosted by phone companies have been discontinued or are no longer free. To look up a person or a phone number, the easiest way is to use an online 411 people search tool.

How to conduct 411 people search online

Online people search engine is a convenient and effective alternative to the traditional 411 directory assistance. By crawling public records from a variety of legit sources, it offers a wealth of relevant and up-to-date personal information.

If you don’t know where to get started, here are 7 options to try.

Option 1 – BeenVerified

BeenVerified is an all-in-one information finder that boasts a robust public record database and a range of search solutions. With the tool, you could search for virtually anyone in the US by name, phone number, email, or just an address.

Go to the BeenVerified website and look up any information you have.

It will scan for your search subject instantly and generate a thorough report. You may find information like contact, possible relatives and associates, criminal history, online accounts, and more.

Option 2 – Intelius

Intelius is also a popular people search engine for in-depth background checks and reverse phone number lookups. Whether you want to reunite with your college roommate or learn more about an online date, it could be your go-to resource to stay informed.

Just provide a name or a phone number and Intelius will try to dig up the best-matched information.

The phone report, for example, may reveal the owner’s identity, photos, address history, and possible profiles on any of 50+ social networks. To read it, you have to subscribe to a membership plan.

The above image is from a sample Intelius report. Actual Intelius reports may contain more or less information.

Option 3 – PeopleFinders

Founded in 1999, PeopleFinders is one of the longest-standing people finders. As an online directory service like 411, it collects over 120 billion public records and white page listings in the US and allows common users to acquire the information they need without hassle.

The searching process will take a few minutes. Once done, PeopleFinders will disclose the phone number owner’s name, address, and other pertinent public records.

Option 4 – Spokeo

Spokeo started as a social network aggregator in 2006 and grew into a trusted people search engine that organizes over 12 billion records. By searching for a name, you can explore someone’s location history, photos, social media presence, family members, court records, workplace, and more.

Simply type in a U.S. phone number on the Spokeo search page, and it may take a couple of minutes to access the updated information.

The Spokeo report covers everything you may find helpful. New users can get a single report at only $0.95 or subscribe to the monthly membership that includes unlimited name, email, and address searches.

Option 5 – Social Catfish

Social Catfish is an online dating investigation service designed to protect against scammers and catfish. It integrates versatile search functionalities, helping you to find lost connections and verify a person’s online identity in various ways.

You can input a name, phone number, username, email or address, to look up relevant personal information.

Moreover, Social Catfish distinguishes itself with an advanced image search. By uploading someone’s image, you could check if the picture is real, identify the person, and learn more about his/her background.

Option 6 – 411.com

411.com is a leading white pages directory with phone numbers, people, addresses, and more. Featuring people search and reverse phone number lookup, it enables you to look up a name or phone number.

This website will display some basic information for free like the person’s phone numbers, current address, and possible relatives. To view more details, you’ll need to pay for the background report that’s provided by Whitepages at $9.99.

Option 7 – 411 Locate

411 Locate is an easy-to-use tool for locating someone online. Rather than a direct data provider, 411 Locate works with the top people search engine, PeopleFinders, to bring together people-centric information from Yellow Pages, White Pages, and public records in a well-organized report.

Start a search on the 411locate website by name, phone number, or email. Then you may filter out irrelevant results by checking their location, age, or aliases. Once you locate the correct person, click Unlimited Access.
